Welcome to Ashbourne Hockey Club
Ashbourne is a small picturesque market town situated at the southern tip of the Peak District, famous amongst other things for its annual Shrovetide Football match.
Ashbourne Hockey Club enjoyed another successful season on and off the pitch across all teams during 2007/8 and look to continue this in the forthcoming 2008/9 season. Ladies 1st XI are looking to improve on last seasons efforts with a more consistent season. Ladies 2nds are also looking for more consistency and hope to win their league and gain promotion. Ladies 3rd XI are looking for a repeat of last season where they finished near the top and will be looking to gain promotion as their leagues split in to 3 divisions next season. The Mens 1st XI face a fresh challenge as they were promoted last season and will find life tough in Division 1. They will also look to challenge again in the EHA Vase competion where they reached the semi finals last season. The Mens 2nd XI, in only their second season in the league, hope to hit the ground running and build on their off season and friendly match form to push for a top half finish. The Mixed, Indoor and Ashbourne Acorns teams have fixtures planned throughout the season and the Acorns are hoping for more success as they build on last seasons efforts. The club is also looking forward to a busy social calender with functions planned for Christmas and also the highlight for most - the End of Season Grand Ball featuring the AHC Oscars. The QEGS astro should have had floodlights fitted over the summer break but the power companies responsible have asked for a large sum of money to upgrade the power. The school does not have this funding so yet again face another delay- sadly it doesn't look like the club will enjoy floodlit hockey this season.
The clubs continued success is down to the hard work of the committee, umpires, players, coaches, supporters and players families who play, umpire, organise and support the club throughout the season. Because of this we have one of the most successful sports clubs in the town and one of the best hockey clubs in Derbyshire.
The club has a Child protection Policy in place which is available on request.
