Welcome to Ashbourne Hockey Club
Ashbourne is a small picturesque market town situated at the southern tip of the Peak District, famous amongst other things for its annual Shrovetide Football match.
Ashbourne Hockey Club enjoyed another successful season on and off the pitch across all teams during 2008/9 and look to continue this in the forthcoming 2009/10 season. Ladies 1st XI improved on last seasons efforts with a 2nd place finish. Ladies 2nds had a mixed season but will remain in the top half of the league when it splits next season. Ladies 3rd XI once again produced a consistent season to finish 2nd and gain promotion to the 2nd tier of the new league structure. The Mens 1st XI had a mixed season and struggled to find form but finshed well to end the season in the top half of the league - they are now looking for a coach to help them push for promotion. The Mens 2nd XI, in only their second season in the league had a much more successful season and was able to field a more consistent side finishing in the top half of their league. The season ahead throws up many new challenges for our teams particularly our newly formed Ladies 4th XI who will play in the 3rd Division of the DWHA. There is also a huge amount of work going in to Youth Development in the club with volunteers offering to coach and train under 16s. Youth development is key to the future of the club and this season will see us focus on it like never before. (See Juniors section for more info). The club is also planning a busy social calender with functions planned throughout the season culminating in the End of Season Grand Ball featuring the AHC Oscars.
The clubs continued success is down to the hard work of the committee, umpires, players, coaches, supporters and players families who play, umpire, organise and support the club throughout the season. Because of this we have one of the most successful sports clubs in the town and one of the best hockey clubs in Derbyshire.
